Sonic Holiday Hours 2026: Thanksgiving, Christmas & More

Sonic holiday hours can be different from one drive-in to another, so checking your specific location is important before making a holiday trip. Sonic says most of its restaurants are independently owned by franchisees, which allows local operators to set appropriate operating hours for their restaurants. The company lists minimum regular operating hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., but those regular-hour guidelines should not be treated as guaranteed holiday hours.

For Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Christmas Eve, and other major holidays, the safest approach is to verify the selected Sonic drive-in rather than relying on a single nationwide holiday timetable.

Quick Answer

Sonic does not publish one comprehensive nationwide 2026 holiday-hours calendar covering every drive-in. Most Sonic locations are independently owned, and individual operators can set their restaurant hours. Official Sonic career listings for some locations specifically state that those restaurants are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this location-level evidence should not be treated as a universal policy for every Sonic drive-in.

For other holidays, including Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, confirm the hours of your selected restaurant.

Sonic Holiday Hours 2026 at a Glance

The table does not assume that a restaurant is open simply because no nationwide closure was found. For holidays without a confirmed chainwide schedule, the status is listed as location-dependent.

Is Sonic Open on Thanksgiving 2026?

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026.

There is evidence from current official Sonic career listings that some individual Sonic restaurants are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

However, Sonic also states that most of its restaurants are independently owned by franchisees and that local operators set appropriate hours for their locations.

Because the available official information does not establish a universal Thanksgiving policy for every Sonic restaurant, check your selected drive-in before visiting on Thanksgiving Day.

Is Sonic Open on Christmas Day 2026?

Christmas Day falls on Friday, December 25, 2026.

Some official Sonic employment listings explicitly describe their restaurants as closed on Christmas, alongside Thanksgiving.

That is useful location-specific evidence, but it should not automatically be applied to every Sonic restaurant in the United States. Sonic’s franchise structure means individual restaurant schedules can differ.

If you are planning a Christmas Day visit, verify the specific drive-in rather than assuming normal hours.

Is Sonic Open on Christmas Eve 2026?

Christmas Eve falls on Thursday, December 24, 2026.

A single nationwide Christmas Eve opening and closing schedule is not publicly confirmed by Sonic. Individual drive-ins may set their own schedules, and holiday operating hours can differ from regular hours.

Check your selected restaurant for its December 24 schedule, particularly if you plan to visit later in the day.

Is Sonic Open on New Year’s Day 2026?

New Year’s Day falls on Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Sonic does not publicly provide a universal New Year’s Day schedule that can safely be applied to every drive-in. Hours should therefore be treated as location-specific.

Do not assume a restaurant’s regular opening and closing times automatically apply on January 1.

Is Sonic Open on New Year’s Eve 2026?

New Year’s Eve falls on Thursday, December 31, 2026.

A chainwide 2026 New Year’s Eve schedule is not publicly confirmed. Because individual Sonic operators determine their restaurant hours, closing times can require local verification.

Check the specific drive-in you plan to visit for its December 31 hours.

Is Sonic Open on Easter 2026?

Easter Sunday falls on April 5, 2026.

Sonic does not publish a universal Easter schedule confirming the same hours for every drive-in. Treat Easter hours as location-specific and verify your restaurant before traveling.

Is Sonic Open on Memorial Day 2026?

Memorial Day falls on Monday, May 25, 2026.

No universal Sonic Memorial Day timetable is publicly confirmed for every location. Your local drive-in may operate, but its exact holiday opening and closing times should be checked directly.

Is Sonic Open on Independence Day 2026?

Independence Day falls on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Sonic’s official information does not establish one nationwide July 4 operating schedule for all restaurants. Check the individual restaurant for its Independence Day hours.

Is Sonic Open on Labor Day 2026?

Labor Day falls on Monday, September 7, 2026.

A universal Labor Day schedule is not publicly confirmed for every Sonic location. Verify your selected drive-in before visiting, especially if you plan to order near its usual opening or closing time.

Why Sonic Holiday Hours Can Vary by Location

Holiday-hour differences are particularly important with Sonic because the company states that 95% of its more than 3,600 drive-ins are owned by local business owners. Sonic also says most locations are independently owned by franchisees and that those operators are best positioned to determine appropriate local restaurant hours.

That means a holiday schedule found for one Sonic restaurant should not automatically be treated as the schedule for another.

Differences can include:

• Whether a particular drive-in opens on a holiday
• Holiday opening and closing times
• Reduced operating hours
• Ordering availability during special operating schedules

For this reason, a location-specific check is more reliable than a generic national holiday-hours list.

Are Sonic’s Regular Hours the Same as Holiday Hours?

Not necessarily.

Sonic’s official FAQ states that its minimum regular operating hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., while noting that most locations are independently owned and local operators determine appropriate hours.

Those minimum operating hours should not be interpreted as a promise that a restaurant will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Christmas, or another holiday.

Holiday schedules should be checked separately.

How to Check Sonic Holiday Hours Near You

The most reliable method is to identify the exact Sonic drive-in you plan to visit and check its current information.

1. Use Sonic’s official restaurant locator and search by ZIP code, city and state, or address.
2. Select the specific drive-in rather than relying on general Sonic hours.
3. Check the Sonic ordering system or app for that location when available.
4. If the holiday schedule remains unclear, call the restaurant directly.
5. Use Google Maps as a secondary check rather than the sole source for special holiday hours.

Sonic specifically directs customers to its restaurant locator when they need local restaurant information.

Remember that regular store hours and special holiday hours are not necessarily the same thing.

Checking Holiday Availability in the Sonic App

Sonic offers an app and online ordering system where customers can select participating locations and access ordering features. Official Sonic information also notes that availability of certain functionality can differ among drive-ins.

Selecting your intended restaurant can therefore provide more useful local information than relying on a generic national schedule.

However, the ability to select a restaurant or place an order should not be used to predict future holiday hours weeks or months in advance. Recheck close to the holiday.

Does Sonic Serve Its Regular Menu on Holidays?

Menu availability on a particular holiday is not universally confirmed for every Sonic location.

A restaurant being open does not automatically guarantee that every regular menu item, ordering method, or service will be available throughout the holiday. Check the selected restaurant or its current ordering system if you need a specific item.

Likewise, historical Sonic holiday menu promotions should not be assumed to be available in 2026 unless Sonic currently advertises them.

Drive-In, Pickup, and Delivery Availability on Holidays

Do not assume that every ordering method follows identical holiday hours.

A Sonic drive-in’s restaurant schedule, mobile ordering availability, pickup availability, and delivery availability can depend on the selected location and current service options.

If you plan to order on a holiday, select the exact restaurant first and confirm that the ordering method you want is available at that time.

Sonic’s FAQ confirms that most locations are independently owned by franchisees and that local operators determine appropriate restaurant hours. Current official job listings also provide location-specific evidence of some Sonic restaurants closing on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Holiday schedules that Sonic does not publicly confirm nationwide are identified as location-specific rather than estimated or assumed.
