Target Christmas Eve Hours 2026: Opening and Closing Times
Planning a last-minute shopping trip to Target on Christmas Eve? Knowing when your local store closes can help you avoid arriving after the doors are locked.
Christmas Eve falls on Thursday, December 24, 2026. Target has historically operated on Christmas Eve with shortened hours, giving shoppers an opportunity to purchase gifts, groceries, decorations, and other essentials before Christmas Day.
However, holiday operating schedules can change, and regular weekday hours should not be used to predict Christmas Eve closing times.
This guide explains what is currently known about Target Christmas Eve hours, how holiday schedules differ from regular store hours, and how to confirm the correct opening and closing times for your nearest location.

What Time Does Target Open on Christmas Eve?
Target’s most recently confirmed Christmas Eve schedule was 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time on December 24, 2025.
The retailer announced this schedule in its November 2025 holiday operating-hours update and reiterated it in December.

Shoppers should distinguish between last year’s confirmed hours and the upcoming holiday’s schedule.

Target closed at 8:00 p.m. local time on Christmas Eve in both 2024 and 2025, according to the company’s official holiday announcements.
That makes 8:00 p.m. a useful historical reference, but it is not a guaranteed closing time for December 24, 2026.
| Year | Christmas Eve Opening | Christmas Eve Closing |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 7:00 a.m. | 8:00 p.m. |

Is Target Open on Christmas Day 2026?
Target has consistently announced Christmas Day store closures in recent years.
For December 25, 2025, the company confirmed that its stores would be closed while customers could continue shopping online for fulfillment after the holiday.
A separate official confirmation for Christmas Day 2026 was not found in the announcements reviewed.
If Target continues its established holiday policy, stores would be closed on Friday, December 25, 2026. However, shoppers should wait for the company’s 2026 holiday announcement before treating that as confirmed.

December 23: Last Shopping Day Before Christmas Eve

For 2026, the company has not yet confirmed whether the same extended schedule will apply.
December 26: Shopping After Christmas
Target stores have historically reopened on December 26 following their Christmas Day closures.
Individual store hours should be checked before visiting because the Christmas Eve schedule does not establish the following day’s opening time.
Target Drive Up and Order Pickup on Christmas Eve
Target offers two useful pickup services for customers who prefer ordering ahead instead of shopping inside the store.
Target Drive Up
Drive Up allows eligible customers to place orders through the Target app and collect them at designated parking spaces.
For Christmas Eve 2025, Target announced that customers could place qualifying Drive Up orders until 6:00 p.m. local time and collect them by 8:00 p.m.
These deadlines applied to the 2025 holiday and should not be assumed for 2026.
Target Order Pickup
Order Pickup lets customers purchase eligible products online and collect them inside their selected Target store.
Target’s 2025 Christmas Eve announcement included the same 6:00 p.m. order deadline for eligible same-day pickup orders.
Product eligibility, order readiness, and collection instructions should be checked before traveling.

Does Target Offer Same-Day Delivery on Christmas Eve?
Target offered same-day delivery on Christmas Eve 2025, including options associated with Target Circle 360.
The company’s December 2025 announcement identified 3:00 p.m. local time as the ordering deadline for eligible same-day deliveries.
However, delivery availability can depend on the selected address, eligible products, and available delivery windows.
For Christmas Eve 2026, check the current checkout information rather than relying on previous years’ deadlines.
Do Target Christmas Eve Hours Vary by Location?
Target publishes general holiday operating schedules but also directs customers to verify their individual store hours.
This matters because the company’s general announcements do not necessarily establish the precise schedule of every location or every service within a store.
When checking your location, pay attention to the distinction between the main store’s hours and separately listed services.
For example, a Target location may display information for its pharmacy, optical department, or other available services. Their schedules should not automatically be assumed to match the main retail store’s hours.

That promotion was specific to 2025.
